In cooperation with the Berlin-based designer Sara Krines, Equinox Records presents a very special and limited wall calendar for 2012. The experimental calendar is like the long-form version of a TokyoFlash watch: There’s a learning curve you need to get around before you can read it.
As Krines describes it,
My approach was/ is to organize time (months, weeks and days) in an unusual way. Taking my personal needs into consideration, I designed a calendar which divides the year into 12 months. Each month is divided into 7 fields which represent the days of the week (Monday through Sunday). Within these fields, the dates, which fall on that particular weekday in the respective month, are listed.
For example: In January 2012 the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th fall on a Monday. Therefore these dates are shown within the field of Monday, January 2012. In addition, I developed a very easy code to replace words (names of months and weeks). This code underlines the cubistic form of the calendar and is explained in a graphic which is printed on the packaging.
Additionally to the calendar, there is a limited and exclusive CD compilation called “Re/Introspective 2011/12” that contains 12 tracks featuring Ceschi, Deckard, 2econd Class Citizen, Sole And The Skyrider Band, Misanthrop & Aqua Luminus III., J. Baracuz, David Vangel, Geste, Andreikelos, PollyJean and DJ Scientist. The tracks are partly unreleased and give a brief outlook of what to expect from our label in 2012 as well as giving a retrospective view on some music that has been released via Equinox in 2011.
The calendar package with the CD is a MUST HAVE for all Equinox fans and collectors and will be sold out quickly (25 copies only!). Don’t hesitate to place your order as soon as it is available.
Notes: The calendar comes seperated as 12 monthly fields as well as the “2012” field and can be put together with double side duct tape (included in package). Calendar and CD are delivered in a beautifully designed package in DIN A4 size. The total measure of the calendar is 90 x 65 cm.

With a fantastic mix by Andreikelos we want to start our new podcast series entitled “Random Seed”. The series will feature mixes by friends and like minded artists from around the world.

Αν και δεν συνηθίζω να γράφω συχνά πια (πλην από τα άρθρα μου στο Freeze σε μηνιαία βάση) λόγω βαρίου προγράμματος εργασιακών (και όχι μόνο) υποχρεώσεων, ωστόσο δεν θα μπορούσα να αφήσω το τελείωμα του καλοκαιριού «παραπονεμένο»..
Άλλωστε, οι φίλοι μου ξέρουν πόσο μισώ το καλοκαίρι άρα συνεπώς πόσο χαίρομαι που παίρνει σιγά-σιγά τον… περίπατο!
Ακόμα δεν έχω καταλάβει που αυτό οφείλεται, όμως ο Σεπτέμβρης μου προκαλεί μια έξαρση δημιουργικότητας.
Όχι απαραίτητα μουσικής φύσεως αλλά γενικότερα..
Είναι η εποχή όπου συνήθως ξεσκονίζω κανένα πικάπ, συμμερίζομαι κανένα προγραμματισμό για το στούντιο – όσο μου επιτρέπει η τσέπη μου δηλαδή – ακούω δίσκους πιο σχολαστικά απ’ ότι συνήθως, ανοίγω να διαβάσω κάνα βιβλίο (…μιλώντας για βιβλία, προτείνω ανεπιφύλακτα «Το Σμήνος» Του Φράνκ Σέτζινγκ σε όσους (κακώς) δεν το έχουν ήδη διαβάσει).. κλπ.
Είναι επίσης μια πολύ καλή εποχή για επικοινωνία, συζητήσεις και σχεδιασμό…
Εν ολίγοις, για να μην μακρηγορώ, θεωρώ ότι η 1η Σεπτέμβρη θα μπορούσε κάλλιστα (και θα’ πρεπε) να είναι και πρωτοχρονιά.
…Βέβαια θα υπήρχε πρόβλημα με το παραμύθι του κοκκινοχοντρούλη με τον σκούφο το οποίο θα σήμαινε μεγάλη οικονομική ζημιά για τους «επαγγελματίες χριστιανούς» αλλά δε βαριέσαι…

Για αρχή, ας συνοψίσω λίγο τα του πρόσφατου παρελθόντος και θα συνεχίσω με τα άμεσα μελλούμενα..
Ξεκινάμε…
Την 18η του Ιούλη, κυκλοφόρησε η Τρίτη προσωπική μου δουλειά. Πρόκειται για ένα επτάιντσο (7”) βινύλιο με 2 instumentals (+1 bonus track με download code μέσα στο βινύλιο).
Το single φέρει τον τίτλο “(Call For) The Last Stand” του οποίου η πρωτότυπη εκτέλεση αποτελείται από ένα υβρίδιο «παλιό-συναντά-νέο» μοτίβο όπου, η νέα ηλεκτρονική συναντά την παράδοση.
Το βινύλιο εκδόθηκε από την γερμανική Equinox Records και διανέμεται από την Grenade Offensive.

Δελτίο Τύπου:
Η Equinox Records και η Grenade Offensive έχουν την τιµή να παρουσιάσουν το πρώτο διεθνές µουσικό εγχείρηµα ενός εκ των παλαιότερων και ιδιαίτερων µουσικών παραγωγών της εγχώριας hip-hop σκηνής, τον Ανδρείκελο.
Πρόκειται για το νέο Single το οποίο κυκλοφορεί σε επτά-ίντσο (7”) βινύλιο και Digital Download, και φέρει τον τίτλο (CallFor) TheLastStand.
Πρόκειται για ένα ιδιαίτερο µουσικό πάντρεµα µεταξύ Electronica και παραδοσιακού ήχου καθότι το κυρίως θέµα συνθέτει µια µελωδία από µπουζούκι επεξεργασµένη, κοµµένη και ραµµένη µοναδικά από τον Ανδρείκελο µέσα από ένα MPC 2500, ενώ παράλληλα τα drum patterns και το programming ακολουθούν (ή ακόµα οδηγούν σε) διεθνής experimental hip-hop πρότυπα.
Επιπροσθέτως, το παρόν δίνει και ο νέο-βρετανικός ήχος καθώς την πρωτότυπη εκτέλεση συνοδεύει ένα υπέροχο Dub-Step Remix του Βρετανού παραγωγού Earthkeptwarm.
Τέλος, στην ψηφιακή του έκδοση (Digital Download) εµπεριέχεται ένα επιπλέον µουσικό κοµµάτι από τον Ανδρείκελο µε τίτλο A Good Start.
Εδώ αξίζει να αναφέρουµε ότι το βινύλιο εµπεριέχει επιπλέον ένα Download Code ώστε όσοι το αποκτήσουν σε αυτή
την µορφή, να έχουν την δυνατότητα να αποκτήσουν δωρεάν και την ψηφιακή έκδοση.
Έπειτα, εν συνεχεία αυτής της νέας κυκλοφορίας, έγραψα ένα dj mix (mixtape) το οποίο πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει ελεύθερα σύντομα και στο οποίο περιλαμβάνονται τα αγαπημένα μου tunes της Equinox.
Αυτά όσον αφορά τα πρόσφατα του παρελθόντος δρώμενα.
Ως προς τα μελλούμενα…
Είναι γνωστό ότι εδώ και περίπου τρία χρόνια (ναι, έχει καταντήσει αηδία, το ξέρω) βρίσκομαι στο στούντιο με τον Μέγα για το νέο του άλμπουμ με τίτλο «Δια χειρός μέρος 3ο: Επικίνδυνη Ποίηση»…
Με χαρά μπορώ να ανακοινώσω ότι ο δίσκος βρίσκεται επιτέλους στα τελειώματα. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, απομένουν δύο μίξεις και εν ακολουθία, το mastering J
Ακριβώς το ίδιο ισχύει και για τον νέο δίσκο που γράφουμε με τον Dennis a.k.a. Αστέρι, με την μόνη διαφορά ότι ακόμα δεν υπάρχει τίτλος γι αυτό
Για τους δύο παραπάνωδίσκους δεν θα πω κάτι ακόμα πέραν του ότι είμαι πολύ περίφανος γι’ αυτούς. Τόσο ο Μέγας όσο και ο Αστέρι έχουν βγάλει τον καλύτερο εαυτό τους!
Επίσης, πολύ σημαντικό είναι να αναφέρω ότι στον δίσκο του Μέγα συμμετέχει κατα κόρον, ένας σύγχρονος ποιητής (Γιώργος Ρενιέρης) ο οποίος έχει συμβάλλει καταλυτικά στην ατμοσφαιρικότητα αυτού του δίσκου.
Τέλος, παραμένωντας στο ελληνόφωνο ραπ, από το 2008 γράφω (σε πολύ χαλαρούς ρυθμούς) ένα προσωπικό vocal άλμπουμ το οποίο θα φέρει τον τίτλο «Τι έχουμε πια για να χάσουμε;» και το οποίο ευελπιστώ να τελειώσω αυτό τον χειμώνα ούτως ώστε να ξεκινήσω (επιτέλους) και ένα ολοκληρωμένο instrumental album το οποίο έχω υποσχεθεί στον εαυτό μου εδώ και καιρό αλλά για άγνωστους λόγους συνεχώς αναβάλλω.

Αυτά τα ολίγα για την ώρα. Ελπίζω να μην κούρασα όσους είχαν το κουράγιο να διαβάσουν τον παρόν κείμενο…
Κλείνοντας, θα ήθελα να ευχηθώ ξανά Καλό Χειμώνα σε όλους και Καλό Κουράγιο (έχει γίνει σλόγκαν πια) γιατί προβλέπεται δύσκολος χειμώνας… μπορεί και χειμώνες…

The philosophy of “(Call For) The Last Stand” is all about unity even when there is no hope spotted nearby. Though fighting for your rights and beliefs until the last breath can lead to what the ancient Spartans called “The ultimate glory”, you never know how the final battle will end and who will be the last man standing.
Leaving these Greek affairs behind, Earthkeptwarm (who already provided us his great remix of 2econd Class Citizen’s “Step Inside”) adds some UK flavour to the tune.
